Registered Psychologist (Clinical Registrar)
Karuna Nair
BPhil (Hons), PhD(ClinPsych) Candidate
Hey, I'm Karuna!
I am a registered psychologist at Feel to Heal Psychology. I’m originally from India but spent most of my life growing up in Perth (Boorloo) before moving to Canberra.
Creating a warm and inclusive environment in therapy is my main priority, and I use a collaborative and strengths-based approach. I aim to tailor therapy to each client's individual needs and preferences, drawing primarily on evidence-based approaches such as emotion-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as integrating aspects of Schema Therapy and Dialectival Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
I am passionate about working with members of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities which I’m also part of, as well as providing affirming and culturally inclusive support to neurodivergent clients, gender diverse clients, and First Nations peoples. I also have particular interests in helping clients navigate complexities of anxiety, neurodiversity, self-esteem and identity, relationships, and disordered eating and body image concerns.
Outside of Feel to Heal, I'm also completing my PhD (in Clinical Psychology) in the area of positive body image, and in my free time I'm likely pole dancing, making art, binge-watching a good TV show, or spending time with my wonderful friends.
