Erin Hyde
Art Therapist
Hi there, I'm Erin.
I'm an Art Therapist who has recently graduated. I'm very excited to begin working with those interested in this form of therapy as it's an area I'm very passionate about. I began my journey with Art Therapy as someone who has found much healing through creativity. I have a deep love of music in particular, and have found solace in other art forms along the way. I have also for a long time maintained a strong interest in psychological perspectives and have been very interested in the ways in which therapy can help people.
Art Therapy is a wonderful blend of creativity and therapeutic work. In an art therapy session, we might spend some time talking, then move on to art making. We might do visual art, movement, writing, clay work, sensory work, music, dance or voice work, depending on the session. Art therapy is not about being "good" at art making, and you don't need any special skills to take part in this kind of therapy.
The work that I do with art therapy is focused on helping to alleviate and work through a variety of struggles, such as emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, traumatic experience, interpersonal conflict, and low self-esteem and self-compassion.
Outside of the therapy room, I like to spend quality time with my family and friends, going into nature and being creative in a variety of ways.
