Thrainn Thorisson

Provisional Psychologist

BScPsych(Hons I)

Hi my name is Thrainn (like "throwing" without the g).

I am a Provisional Psychologist at Feel to Heal, working therapeutically with children, adolescents, and adults. I am currently completing the sixth and final year of my Master of Clinical Psychology, with training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate some Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills.

I have an interest in supporting people experiencing anxiety, depression and stress, as well as trauma. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, as well as neuroaffirming. I have previous experience working with neurodivergent people as a mental health support worker. I focus on helping clients feel safe, understood, and supported to build practical skills that create meaningful change.

I grew up on a dairy farm in Iceland and have a keen interest in supporting farmer's mental health (no farmer, no food!). I also bring a decade of experience from the security industry, which strengthened my trauma-informed sensitivity, risk management, and to support people in distress calmly and compassionately.

Outside the clinic and study, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and weight lifting, spending time with friends, reading, and unwinding with video games
